Monet has a work by this same title. It's interesting the different takes the two artists have on the scene.

Indeed, Monet's painting appears to depict the same street in winter (perhaps late fall?).

Thanks for posting Monet's piece as well.

The most intriguing thing about Monet's piece is the explosion of orangey-pink (salmon?) in the lower right quarter of the painting. A bonfire of some sort maybe?

Judging by the number of people encircling it - I'd say that this is a logical assumption.
