Today on NPR (Fresh Air?) they reran interviews and clips- I cried all the way home.

I can't say he'll be missed because we have his movies and tapes, but I'll miss him.

I tried several times to put into words my feelings but the sentiment never adequately portrayed my real emotions. Other than Lenny Bruce and George Carlin he is the one comedian whose comedy proved more socially relavent and biting than others of his time.

There was something very open and vulnerable about him, too--even in his most satiric monologues. I think that is what touched me most.

Yes that was most evident in his post "freebasing" incident material.
