Bobby Fischer (1943-2008)





Bobby Fischer died on Thursday at 64, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest chess players the world has ever seen.

More than wacky, he was an outcast. Though he was a hero of mine when I used to play tournament chess, I do not envy him his life. I do believe the poor man was somehow mentally unwell.

Robert - as a teenager I played on the highschool chess team. I had an opportunity to see him play multiple games simultaneously. Amazing player. I also used to go to a chess cafe called En Passant and saw him obliterate some of the local chessmasters and one grandmaster that frequented the place. I was very impressed.... It's tragic really what happened to him.
